busy at the arc

well, after a horrible horrible horrible night sailing from lanzarote to las palmas (we were rolling so much that at one stage i flew of the couch down below...) we find ourselves in the middle of the arc-program and preparing the last things for our crossing.

find out what's going on at http://www.worldcruising.com/arc/

so again we are busy as hell....and actually I can't wait to finally get going - so all the organizing will find it's own end ;)

still - some important things are still missing and this is why I need YOUR help!!!! - please send us some book-tips (preferably non sailing) via leaving a comment on the blog! also music-playlists will be highly appreciated :) (please leave Rod Steward out though;) )!

thanks for all your comments!!!

  1. Am sitting in London waiting for the flight to Madrid then Las Palmas. I probably should have broken the flight up. I will have been on the road for 35 hours by the time I get there. It seems that pre race activity is in full swing.

  3. What about the Kindle-Sleeves from the BSH-Crew? Already done with all that stuff?
Still, my favourite book of this year: Tschick from Wolfgang Herrndorf.

  5. Dear mrs. Shipard,

don't forget the 'Little Prince', it will probably help to overcome all the difficult experiences of the sailing tour and remind you to remember that there is something, where you can trust in.
From time to time I was looking at your blog, so today I wish you and your husband a really good trip over to St. Lucia!

    Best regards

  9. Hello to both of you.have been thinking of you and how the trip is going heaps :)

First of all... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK SQUARK!!!!

now for some music tips..... 'Seeker Lover Keeper' are 3 Australian girls with amazing vocals and acoustics... one of them is Sarah Blasko, who is worth having in your collection. i think you will love her soothing voice Karline. Xavier Rudd has a new album out, always good for a some uplifting foot tapping beats and didge playing.

for some book inspiration.... Jennifer Burns (Andrew Denton's better half) runs a book club show on ABC TV chock full of great reads. heres the link to her site... http://www.abc.net.au/tv/firsttuesday/

hope all the preps runs smoothly.

take care, love nikki, rick and finn

  13. Just finished reading Don't Tell Mum I Work on the Rigs, She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whore House by Paul Carter. Guaranteed not to win the next Pulitizer Prize but a laugh out loud funny book. Hope the crossing goes well.
